Pre-conditioning
Our shore power solutions efficiently power non-propulsion equipment (HVAC, lighting, doors) directly from the grid.
This enables essential thermal pre-conditioning, heating or cooling trains before commercial service to guarantee immediate passenger comfort while reducing peak energy demand at departure.
EN 50546 connector
PROCONECT, a CENELEC WG-19 board member, designed the 3PX3, the EN 50546 normative connector (63A/125A) for seamless shore power and train pre-conditioning.
It supports both fixed and free cable connections, and are available pre-wired for quick on-site integration.
HEP – Head-End Power
HEP connection
Head-End Power (HEP) or Coach-to-coach connection is the rails system’s electrical backbone. The locomotive generates and distributes high-voltage power through a continuous line to all cars. It feeds « hotel loads » like HVAC and lighting. These critical connections must resist extreme vibrations and ensure crew safety.
